The Pepwave 5G Adapter is Peplink's new rugged 5G modem with a 2.5GbE PoE-powered Ethernet handoff. It is not a router, it is a 5G WAN source: drop it onto any router with an Ethernet WAN port (Peplink, Cradlepoint, Fortinet, Ubiquiti) and you have 5G connectivity. Pre-loaded 1GB Peplink global eSIM, dual physical SIM, RemoteSIM support, GPS, ignition sensing, TAA compliant. SKU ADP-5GY-T-PRM (North America carrier-certified variant).
Pricing is on enquiry. This SKU is not currently listed on Peplink's eStore, so UK trade pricing is by quote only. Email info@thetechfactory.co.uk for a current quote and lead time, or for the EU/global ADP-5GZ variant.
What you get
- Rugged 5G modem. Industrial enclosure, -40 to +65 degC operating range, designed for permanent or semi-permanent installation in vehicles, kiosks, cabinets, or outdoors with appropriate housing.
- 2.5GbE Ethernet handoff. One 10/100/1000/2500M LAN port carries 5G WAN traffic to your router. Powered over Ethernet via 802.3at, no separate power supply required.
- Single 5G modem, 5G + LTE Cat-19. Theoretical max 3.4 Gbps DL / 550 Mbps UL on 5G, 1.6 Gbps DL on LTE Cat-19.
- 4x SMA cellular plus 1x SMA GPS. 4x4 MIMO antenna support. Compatible with Mobility 40G and Slim 40G outdoor antennas.
- Dual SIM, eSIM, RemoteSIM. Two Nano-SIM slots, BYO eSIM with two profiles, plus pre-loaded 1GB Peplink global eSIM data for zero-touch setup. RemoteSIM support means SIM management from a central SIM Injector via InControl.
- GPS tracking. Real-time location data in InControl 2 for fleet, asset and field deployments.
- Ignition sensing and GPIO. Vehicle ignition control and GPIO for IoT telemetry, sensor integration and machine-to-machine signal control.
- InControl 2 cloud management. Plus InTouch out-of-band remote access. Manage hundreds of adapters from a single dashboard.
- Public and private 5G. Connect to standard carrier networks or to enterprise CBRS / private 5G infrastructure. Few adapters in this class do both.
- TAA compliant. Suitable for US federal, state and regulated agency procurement.
- 1-year PrimeCare included. InControl 2 cloud entitlement, hardware warranty.
Built for
Adding 5G to an existing network. If you already own a Peplink Balance, Cradlepoint, Fortinet or Ubiquiti router and want a 5G WAN source that doesn't require swapping the router, this is the cleanest option. Connect Ethernet, point your router's WAN config at the adapter's DHCP, done.
Vehicle and fleet deployments. Ignition sensing automatically powers the adapter on with the vehicle, GPS tracks location in InControl 2, RemoteSIM means you never need to swap a SIM in the field. Pair with a Mobility 40G external antenna for performance.
Smart infrastructure and IoT. GPIO and the rugged enclosure suit telemetry, sensor gateways, smart-city deployments, and industrial IoT rollouts.
Government and federal. TAA compliance and the public/private 5G dual-mode capability suit federal, state, defence, and CBRS deployments.
SpeedFusion source. Use the adapter as a SpeedFusion-bonded WAN peer feeding into a Peplink Balance, MAX, or SDX router. Bond 5G with fibre, Starlink, or another cellular link.
The honest take
The 5G Adapter is genuinely a different category to the older USB-C MAX 5G Adapter. The MAX 5G Adapter is a USB modem; this is a standalone Ethernet-handoff appliance with PoE, GPS, ignition sensing, ruggedisation, and a basic web UI. They are different tools.
Important note for UK buyers. The ADP-5GY-T-PRM is the North America carrier-certified variant. Its 5G band coverage includes n78 (3.5 GHz, the main UK 5G band) but does not include n1, n3, n28 or other UK low-band 5G frequencies. For full UK band coverage including all four UK MNOs, the ADP-5GZ-T-PRM (EU/global variant) is preferred. Email us before ordering so we can confirm which variant suits your site coverage.
What it isn't. It is not a router. It does not run SpeedFusion natively (you connect it via Ethernet to a router that does). It is not a replacement for a B One 5G or BR1 Pro 5G if you also need Wi-Fi, multi-WAN routing, or full SD-WAN policy at this device. It is a clean, rugged, manageable way to add 5G to a network that has everything else already.

Frequently asked questions
Will this work in the UK?
Partially. The ADP-5GY variant covers n78 (3.5 GHz, the primary UK 5G band) and several LTE bands used in the UK including B7. It does not cover n1, n3, n28 or B20 used by some UK MNOs for low-band 5G and rural LTE. For full UK band coverage we recommend the ADP-5GZ-T-PRM (EU/global variant). Email us before ordering and we will confirm coverage for your specific site and carrier.
Why is there no price shown?
This SKU is not on Peplink's eStore catalogue, so we set UK pricing on enquiry. Pricing depends on volume, carrier choice, antenna package, and PrimeCare term. Email info@thetechfactory.co.uk for a current quote, typically returned within one business day.
Is it a router?
No. The 5G Adapter is a 5G modem with a basic web interface and DHCP server. It hands off the 5G connection over Ethernet at 2.5GbE to whatever router you connect to it. Use a Peplink Balance, MAX, SDX, BR series, or any third-party router for the actual routing, VPN, firewall and Wi-Fi.
Does it work with non-Peplink routers?
Yes. The Ethernet handoff means it will feed any router that accepts a DHCP-issued WAN. Cradlepoint, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, MikroTik, and Cisco are all confirmed by Peplink as compatible. Management of the adapter itself is via Peplink InControl 2 cloud.
What's the difference between ADP-5GY and ADP-5GZ?
ADP-5GY is North America carrier-certified (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, FirstNet) with a band set tuned for North American operators. ADP-5GZ is the global/EU variant with broader band coverage including UK and EU 5G low-band. We can supply either; talk to us first.
Does it support Starlink?
Indirectly. Connect both the 5G Adapter (5G WAN) and your Starlink router (wired WAN) into a Peplink router upstream. SpeedFusion bonds them. The adapter itself does not have Starlink-specific firmware features; that intelligence sits in the Peplink router you pair it with.
What's RemoteSIM and why does it matter?
RemoteSIM lets you manage SIM profiles from a central SIM Injector via InControl. For fleet deployments where the adapter is in a vehicle or remote site, you can swap carriers or update profiles without sending an engineer to physically touch the SIM card. Saves real money on field operations.
How do I power it?
Three options: PoE 802.3at over the Ethernet handoff (cleanest, single cable), or 12V via the included AC adapter, or 10-30V DC via the Micro-fit power port for vehicle/industrial install.
