The Peplink Balance 310 Fiber 5G adds a built-in SFP fibre cage to the Balance 310 5G platform, eliminating the separate fibre media converter from the WAN edge. The router authenticates fibre directly via the SFP module, runs the firewall and SD-WAN stack on that interface, and pairs with the embedded 5G modem for a clean multi-WAN architecture. Why pick this over Balance 310 5G
The base Balance 310 5G uses Ethernet WAN; you bolt a fibre media converter ahead of the router to terminate fibre. That works but introduces a separate failure mode and double-NAT in some configurations. The Fiber 5G variant integrates the SFP cage directly: fibre comes in, terminates in the router, single device runs the WAN. Cleaner rack, simpler fault diagnosis, fewer SKUs.

SpeedFusion bonded fibre + 5G architecture
The natural deployment is to bond the SFP fibre WAN with the embedded 5G WAN via SpeedFusion. Under normal conditions, fibre carries the bulk of the load. If fibre drops (cable cut, ISP outage), 5G picks up immediately with no break in active sessions. SpeedFusion can also smooth packet loss across the cellular path during sub-second fibre flickers that would otherwise trigger TCP retransmits and slow user-facing applications.
