The B One 5G is Peplink's enterprise branch router with a built-in 5G modem, designed as a backup-internet router for offices, retail and branch sites that cannot afford to go dark when a wired ISP fails. Same chassis as the B One, plus an embedded Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 5G modem, dual SIM, eSIM support. 1 Gbps routing throughput, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, dual Gigabit WAN, USB-C WAN, SpeedFusion VPN bonding. 1-year PrimeCare bundled. SKU B-ONE-5GN-T-PRM.
Peplink positioning: 5G connectivity, instant reliability. The B One 5G turns a fixed-line ISP into a resilient connection by adding 5G as either backup or primary, all in one fanless desktop unit.
What you get
- Embedded 5G modem. Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 (Quectel RM520N). Sub-6 GHz including UK n78. 5G theoretical maximum 3.4 Gbps DL / 900 Mbps UL. LTE Cat-20 fallback at 1.6 Gbps DL.
- Dual SIM plus eSIM. One Nano-SIM slot (4FF), Peplink eSIM, and BYO eSIM with up to 2 profiles. Hardware version 2 also supports RemoteSIM and FusionSIM via SIM Injector.
- 1 Gbps routing throughput. Same router engine as the B One. Headroom for 5G or fibre WAN traffic.
- 2x Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports plus a built-in 5G modem and a USB-C WAN port. Up to 4 simultaneous WAN paths.
- 4x Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for office devices, IP phones and APs.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6, 2x2 MIMO. Concurrent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, up to 16 SSIDs across multiple VLANs.
- SpeedFusion VPN bonding. 400 Mbps unencrypted, 200 Mbps with 256-bit AES. Bond 5G with fibre, Starlink, or another cellular link into one resilient pipe.
- 4x SMA cellular connectors with full antenna set in the box. Add a Mobility 42G or Slim 40G external antenna for outdoor or roof-mount install.
- InControl 2 cloud management. Plus Peplink mobile app, full CLI, SNMP. Same fleet management story as every other Peplink router.
- Fanless. Silent, no moving parts to fail. Suitable for offices, retail counters, AV racks.
- 1-year PrimeCare included. 5 SpeedFusion peers, hot failover, smoothing, bandwidth bonding, cloud entitlement, warranty.
Built for
Branch offices that cannot lose connectivity. Wired ISP as primary, 5G as automatic failover. PrimeCare-grade hot failover means a 30-second BT outage doesn't drop a Teams call.
Pop-up retail and trade events. Where there's no fibre or only intermittent Ethernet, run 5G as primary with a wired ISP as soon as one's available.
Restaurants, salons, gyms. Card terminal traffic on the 5G uplink, guest Wi-Fi separated by VLAN, captive portal for guests.
Construction sites and temporary offices. 5G primary, USB-C tethering as backup, SpeedFusion bonding both for resilience.
Starlink with cellular failover. Bond Starlink with the embedded 5G modem; SpeedFusion handles the obstruction or rain-fade gracefully.
The honest take
The B One 5G is the right answer when you want one box that gives you a real router, real Wi-Fi 6 and real 5G connectivity for under £600. The previous generation answer was the Balance 20X with an external MAX adapter, two boxes and £900+ for similar capability. The B One 5G is half the cost, half the complexity, and a generation newer.
What it isn't. It is not a vehicle router; the chassis isn't sealed, the DC input has GPIO but no ignition sensing. For mobile or vehicle deployments look at the BR1 Pro 5G or BR2 Pro 5G. It is also not a high-throughput enterprise box; if you need 200+ users or multi-gig WAN, step up to the Balance 310 (no built-in cellular, pair with a 5G adapter) or the Balance 580X HW2.
The X62 modem is current-generation Sub-6 GHz; not mmWave. For UK and European deployments that's actually the right modem since mmWave coverage here is essentially nil. US deployments on Verizon C-band, T-Mobile mid-band and AT&T Sub-6 also work fine, FirstNet certified.

Frequently asked questions
What carriers does the X62 modem support in the UK?
All four UK MNOs: EE, Vodafone, Three and O2. The Sub-6 GHz band coverage includes n78 (the main UK 5G band at 3.5 GHz), n1, n3, n28, n40, plus full LTE band coverage including B20 (800 MHz) for rural fallback.
Does it come with a SIM or data plan?
No SIM is included by default with the standard B-ONE-5GN-T-PRM. Bring your own SIM, eSIM or use Peplink's eSIM data plans (SFC-CN range, pay-as-you-go global). The US-region "with data" variant exists (B-ONE-5GN-T-PRM-20GB) but is not stocked in the UK.
Can I bond the 5G with another connection?
Yes, that's the headline use case. SpeedFusion bonds the embedded 5G modem with one or both Ethernet WAN ports (or even a USB-C tethered phone). PrimeCare is required for hot failover, smoothing and bandwidth bonding; the first year is included.
Does it work with Starlink?
Yes. Connect Starlink to one Ethernet WAN, run 5G as backup or bonded peer. Peplink's firmware includes Starlink obstruction handling and smart failover, so a brief obstruction triggers seamless cellular handover.
What antennas should I use?
The included paddle antennas work for desktop deployments with reasonable signal. For weak-signal environments or external mounting (roof, wall), the Mobility 42G or Slim 40G outdoor antennas are recommended. We can specify a roof-mount kit for retail or branch installs.
Does it support inter-VLAN routing and 802.1Q?
Yes. Up to 16 SSIDs each on its own VLAN, full VLAN tagging on LAN with port mapping, and inter-VLAN routing. Captive portal can be applied per SSID.
What's the difference between this and the BR1 Pro 5G?
The BR1 Pro 5G is a vehicle-grade mobile router; ruggedised chassis, ignition sensing, PoE input, designed for transit and field use. The B One 5G is the branch-office equivalent with the same 5G capability but in a fanless desktop package, more LAN ports, and a lower price. If the unit will sit on a desk or in a rack, B One 5G; if it will sit in a vehicle, BR1 Pro 5G.
Is it really fanless?
Yes. Passive cooling, no moving parts. Operating range -40 to +45 degC. The 5G modem adds a few watts of heat versus the non-5G B One but the chassis still runs cool to the touch.
