Industrial-grade Wi-Fi access point with railway certification and DIN rail mounting

The AP we put in vehicles, on rolling stock, and in unconditioned cabinets

The AP One Rugged is built for the awkward indoor environments that defeat office-grade APs: rail rolling stock, vehicle cabins, industrial cabinets, transport hubs, factory floors. Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) in 2x2 MU-MIMO across both bands, 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports (one supporting 802.3at PoE+ pass-through to a downstream device), DIN rail mountable, 9-30V DC input plus PoE input, and a thermal envelope from -40 to +65°C. The aluminium enclosure and sealed cable entries handle vibration and dust without complaint.

EN 50155 (rolling stock electronic equipment), EN 50121-3-2 and EN 50121-4 (railway EMC), and EN 61373 (vibration and shock) certifications make this the go-to AP for rail rolling stock and other transport applications where regular indoor APs would shake loose, overheat, or fail certification. Shock and vibration test data is on the datasheet. The AP works as a managed AP under any Peplink router with built-in AP controller, or standalone in router or bridge mode with the second Ethernet port acting as PoE output for chained devices.

Where it fits

This is the right AP whenever the deployment environment isn't a regular office. Rail rolling stock with EN 50155 requirements. Buses, trucks, and HGV cabins where vibration and thermal extremes break consumer APs. Industrial cabinets and factory floors with dust, vibration, and elevated ambient temperatures. Maritime applications below decks. Mobile command posts and field operations vehicles.

For office and indoor commercial Wi-Fi, the AP One AX (£369) or AP One Enterprise (Wi-Fi 7, £439) are more appropriate. For outdoor IP67 deployment, the AP Pro AX is the call. The AP One Rugged is specifically the industrial-grade indoor answer with rail and vehicle certifications.

PoE+ injector or 9-30V DC supply required (sold separately). For DIN rail BR1 Mini installs we recommend pairing with the ACW-DIN-BR1-MINI rail mount.

FAQ

Why pick AP One Rugged over a standard AP? Three reasons: certifications (EN 50155 rail, E-Mark vehicle, EN 61373 vibration), thermal envelope (-40 to +65°C versus 0-40°C on office APs), and DIN rail mountability for industrial cabinets. If your deployment doesn't need any of those, a standard AP saves money.

What does the second Ethernet port do? It's flexible. When the AP runs on PoE input, the second port is a regular Gigabit LAN. When the AP runs on 9-30V DC input, the second port becomes 802.3af PoE output, which can power one downstream device (a camera, sensor, or another AP).

Does it support Wi-Fi 6? No, the AP One Rugged is Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2). The AP Pro AX is the Wi-Fi 6 outdoor option; for indoor rugged Wi-Fi 6, contact us for the latest options as Peplink updates the rugged line periodically.

Can I mount it in a 19-inch rack? Not directly; it's DIN rail / wall / ceiling form factor. For a rack install, use a 1U rack-mount DIN rail adapter.

What's PrimeCare? A 1-year PrimeCare subscription is bundled. Unlocks AP controller features, warranty extension, InControl 2 cloud management, and firmware support.
