The Balance 310 is Peplink's brand-new multi-gigabit branch router, launched January 2026. 4 Gbps routing throughput, gigabit SpeedFusion, dual 2.5G WAN, 10G LAN, PoE+ output. Fanless. TAA compliant. Designed to anchor a branch network where wired internet meets 5G or Starlink failover, without the enterprise price tag.
Peplink positioning: "Affordable. Fanless. Fast." Hardware revision HW5, the latest generation. SKU BPL-310-PRM.
What you get
- 4 Gbps routing throughput. Multi-gig real-world performance, headroom for years of traffic growth.
- Gigabit SpeedFusion. 1 Gbps SpeedFusion bonding, the highest in this price tier. Bond cellular, Starlink, Ethernet WAN into one resilient pipe.
- Dual 2.5G WAN ports. WAN 2 is configurable as LAN if you need an extra port. Surge and ESD protected.
- 10G LAN port backward-compatible with 5G/2.5G/GbE/FE. Real-time transfers between NAS, workstations and servers.
- PoE+ output. Power a 5G Dome or Antenna MAX directly from the router. One cable, one box.
- Fanless design. Silent, no moving parts, long-term reliability for IT closets, AV racks and vehicle installs.
- Vehicle-ready. Ignition sensing built in, 12V to 56V DC input range, supports RV and commercial vehicle deployment.
- TAA compliant for federal and government deployments.
- 1-year PrimeCare included. InControl 2 cloud, SpeedFusion peer entitlement, FusionHub licences, warranty.
Built for
Branch offices. Wired broadband as primary, 5G or Starlink as failover. Multi-gig backbone ready for the next ISP upgrade.
AV and media production. 10G LAN handles RAW footage, NAS-to-workstation transfers, and high-bitrate streams without breaking a sweat.
IT operations. Server-to-server, VM, and enterprise workload throughput on the LAN side, plus secure SD-WAN out to multiple sites.
Quiet vehicle deployments. Fanless plus ignition sensing is a rare combination. Coaches, RVs, mobile production trucks where noise and heat matter.
The honest take
The Balance 310 hits a sweet spot Peplink has been missing for years. Below it, the B One and Balance 20X cap out around 1 Gbps routing. Above it, the Balance 580X jumps to enterprise pricing. The 310 lands at multi-gig performance, gigabit SpeedFusion and a 10G LAN port for under what you'd pay for a comparable Cisco or Fortinet branch router, and you get SpeedFusion bonding which they can't match in software.
This isn't a 5G router on its own. It has no built-in cellular. The play is to use the PoE+ WAN port to power a 5G Dome (HD1 Dome Pro) or Antenna MAX as your cellular WAN, and the other 2.5G WAN as your fibre or Starlink uplink. SpeedFusion bonds them. That's a clean two-box solution for branch sites needing real resilience.
If you need built-in cellular, look at the older Balance 310 5G (still shipping, two embedded modems) or step down to the B One 5G. If you need true enterprise capacity (200+ users), step up to the Balance 580X HW2.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Balance 310 have built-in 5G or Wi-Fi?
No. It's a pure router. For 5G, pair it with an HD1 Dome Pro or Antenna MAX powered over the PoE+ WAN port. For Wi-Fi, add an AP One or AP One Enterprise on the LAN side.
Can I run it in a vehicle?
Yes. The 310 supports 12V to 56V DC input and has ignition sensing. Fanless design means no fan noise and no moving parts to fail. Quiet enough for AV trucks and RV deployments where you can't hear a fan running.
Does PrimeCare include Virtual WAN?
Currently no, per Peplink's own engineering team confirmation in February 2026. They've said they'll address this in an upcoming firmware. Until then, vWAN requires a support ticket. We can handle that for you.
Does it need a fan or cooling?
No. Fanless design with passive cooling. Real-world measured power consumption is around 20W in typical use, well within the thermal envelope of the chassis.
Can I rack-mount it?
Yes, with the optional ACW-992 rack mount kit (sold separately).
What's TAA compliance and do I need it?
Trade Agreements Act compliance is required for US federal and state government deployments. If you're selling into UK government or defence, TAA helps but check your specific framework requirements.
