Where it fits
Enterprise sites in regions where 4G is mature but 5G hasn't rolled out, or where 5G coverage from your preferred carrier is poor. Sites needing 600-900 Mbps consistent cellular throughput (heavy cloud workloads, video conferencing at scale, large file sync) where bonded 4G via SpeedFusion delivers more than a single 5G modem in marginal coverage. Marine vessels in coastal waters where 4G coverage is excellent and 5G is sparse. Backup paths where Cat-12 isn't enough but you want to defer 5G investment.
Cat-20 vs 5G, the honest take
Cat-20 LTE-A delivers 600-900 Mbps in good 4G mid-band coverage. 5G NR can deliver 1+ Gbps but only when both the local cell tower has 5G mid-band lit up AND your carrier plan unlocks the 5G tier AND the device is in good signal. In real-world UK and EU 4G coverage with strong carrier aggregation, Cat-20 routinely outperforms 5G NR in marginal-coverage sites. Don't assume 5G always wins; validate at the deployment site.
