Field-installable embedded VDSL2 modem for the Balance 580X HW2 FlexModule Mini bay
The right module when copper broadband is the WAN tier that fits
The Peplink FlexModule Mini VDSL is a hot-swappable VDSL2 modem that drops into the FlexModule Mini bay on the Balance 580X HW2 (and other compatible Peplink hardware with a Mini bay). It eliminates the separate VDSL CPE box from the WAN edge: the Balance 580X authenticates VDSL directly via the FlexModule, with no double NAT, no separate firmware to manage, and no extra hardware on the rack. SKU EXM-MINI-1VDSL.
For the FlexModule Mini architecture context, see the FlexModule Mini 5G page; this listing covers the VDSL2 alternative for sites still on copper broadband.

Where it fits
UK FTTC (fibre-to-the-cabinet) deployments where the local exchange still provides VDSL2 to the premises. Branch sites in regions without fibre-to-the-premises rollout. Backup VDSL paths to a primary fibre or 5G connection. Resilient multi-WAN sites where SpeedFusion bonds VDSL with cellular and Starlink. Any site where the BT or Openreach VDSL service is the primary or backup WAN tier.
Why integrate VDSL into the router
The traditional pattern is a separate VDSL modem (e.g. BT Openreach modem or a generic VDSL CPE) handing off to the router via Ethernet. That works but introduces a separate device with its own firmware, its own failure mode, and double-NAT in some configurations. The FlexModule Mini VDSL eliminates that intermediate box: the Balance 580X authenticates PPPoE directly with the ISP, gets a public IP, runs the firewall/SD-WAN stack on that interface, and the rack is one box simpler.
