Quad-modem LTE-A Cat-12 maritime and broadcast router for fleets that don't need Cat-20 throughput
The Peplink MAX HD4 MBX LTEA (Cat-12) sits below the HD4 MBX LTEA Cat-20 in the quad-modem MBX line. Four LTE-A Cat-12 modems delivering 600 Mbps theoretical per modem (200-400 Mbps real-world), bonded via SpeedFusion across all four paths. The right call for vessel and broadcast fleets where Cat-12 LTE-A delivers sufficient per-modem throughput and the price differential vs Cat-20 matters at fleet scale. Available in regional band variants for global deployment. SKU MAX-HD4-MBX-LTEA-Q-T (with -K and -3K1SC regional variants).
When to pick Cat-12 over Cat-20 or 5G
- Fleet scale where unit cost matters. Cat-12 modems are meaningfully cheaper than Cat-20 or 5G NR per cellular path.
- Per-modem real-world 200-400 Mbps is sufficient. Bonded across 4 modems, that's 800 Mbps to 1.6 Gbps aggregate, which covers most maritime and broadcast contribution workloads.
- Coverage areas where Cat-12 is the dominant 4G tier. Some regions still operate predominantly Cat-12 networks with limited Cat-20 carrier aggregation.
