The Peplink FlexModule Plus 2x 5G is the dual-cellular 5G NR expansion module for the SDX-class FlexModule Plus bay. Two embedded 5G NR sub-6 GHz modems with 4x4 MIMO each, hot-swappable into any Balance SDX, SDX Pro, or EPX-M8 chassis. Adds two complete 5G cellular WAN paths to the parent router with full SpeedFusion bonding entitlement. SKU EXM-2X5GN.
What this enables
Drop one or more FlexModule Plus 2x 5G modules into an SDX or EPX chassis and the parent router gains 2-16+ active 5G cellular paths depending on chassis size. Common deployment patterns:
- SDX with 2x FlexModule Plus 2x 5G = 4 active 5G modems on a single chassis. Enterprise WAN edge with quad-cellular redundancy.
- EPX-M8 with 8x FlexModule Plus 2x 5G = 16 active 5G modems on a single chassis. Broadcast contribution headend, ISP-class cellular aggregation, government/defence multi-carrier.
- Mixed configurations: combine cellular FlexModules with fibre, Ethernet, and SIM Injector modules in the same chassis.

vs FlexModule Plus 2x LTEA Cat-20
For deployments without 5G coverage at the site, the FlexModule Plus 2x LTEA Cat-20 is the right call. Pick 5G NR when 5G is deployed and the carrier plan unlocks the 5G tier; pick LTEA Cat-20 when 5G isn't available or carrier plan economics don't justify the upgrade.
Recommended antenna pairings
Each modem in the FlexModule Plus 2x 5G needs its own 4x4 MIMO antenna set. Common pairings: 2x Antenna MAX ( each) for fixed-site, or 1x Antenna MAX Duo for the dual-cellular dome that covers both modems with a single PoE cable run.
